Data Storage/Document Management

What Is It?

We all have data and documents that we create and work on during the course of our day.  Some data/documents contain highly sensitive information and others do not. Some data/documents are just for you, while others need to be available to your co-workers, and still others are important for collaboration.  In addition, we may need to share our data/documents with collaborators outside of UTHSC.

ITS provides just the right storage options for your data and document management needs, including:

  • OneDrive
  • SharePoint
  • Teams
  • VolShare

The Business Productivity Support (BPS) team provides students, faculty, and staff with consultation, training and support for all of these options.  The BPS team will assist with creating a data storage strategy for your department. Complete the attached form at the Request Service button to provide us more information about your needs, and we will contact you to schedule time to discuss your options.

ITS’s goal is to support UTHSC during the digitization journey from paper to electronically stored documents, on the road towards full digital transformation (Dx)! We offer OneDrive and SharePoint as a digital/electronic solution to document storage.
You can now share your documents in SharePoint with outside resources such as research partners, colleagues, vendors, clients, or customers. Options to collaborate with guests include on a document or on a site.
ITS has a plan for moving you to cloud file storage.
UTHSC will only sanction the storage of FERPA-protected information, Protected Health Information (PHI), or other materials and information covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) in the Microsoft 365 environment if the account(s) storing and accessing the information are enabled with two-factor authentication (DUO).
