Summary

This article explains what a NetID is, how it is used at UTHSC, how to look it up, and how to access your UTHSC email account. It also provides information about sponsoring a NetID and managing your NetID password.

Prerequisites

  • UT NetID or eligibility to receive one
  • Access to the UTHSC website or People Search tool

Instructions

What Is a NetID?

All faculty, staff, and students are assigned a Network ID (NetID). Your NetID is the username associated with your UTHSC accounts and provides secure access to applications and services such as Outlook email, Banner, and Blackboard.

Official University communication—including messages from the Chancellor, Provost, and payroll notifications—is sent to your University of Tennessee email address.

Your UT email address uses the format NetID@uthsc.edu.

Sponsoring a NetID

Active university faculty or staff may sponsor a NetID for individuals who work with UTHSC but do not have one, such as volunteers or emeritus faculty.

To sponsor a NetID, visit the Sponsoring a NetID article.

NetID Lookup

If you do not know your NetID, you can search for yourself using the People Search tool on the UTHSC website. Your NetID appears after selecting your name in the search results.

If you have been hired but do not appear in People Search, ask your business manager to contact Human Resources.

Set Up or Change Your Password

For password setup or changes, visit the NetID Password Management: Everything You Need to Know article.

Log In to Email

You can access your UTHSC email through a web browser by visiting o365.uthsc.edu. Enter your NetID and password, open the application menu, and select Outlook.

For additional help using Outlook, visit the Outlook knowledge base category.

Troubleshooting

  • If you cannot find your NetID in People Search, contact your business manager or Human Resources.
  • If you cannot access your email, verify that you are using your NetID and current password.
  • If you have password issues, use the NetID Password Management article for guidance.

Additional Notes

  • Your NetID is required for most UTHSC systems and services.
  • Sponsored NetIDs must be requested by active faculty or staff.
