Who Has Access to Microsoft 365?

Summary

Microsoft 365 is available to eligible UTHSC faculty, staff, and students. Access includes Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft cloud services.

  • Active UTHSC NetID and password
  • Duo two-factor authentication
  • Current affiliation with UTHSC that meets eligibility requirements

Instructions

Eligibility Overview

  • Full-time faculty and staff
    Eligible for desktop installations and online applications.
  • Students
    Must be currently enrolled; eligible for desktop and online applications.
  • Residents and clinical trainees
    Eligible if they have an active UTHSC NetID.
  • Temporary employees, affiliates, and vendors
    Access varies depending on departmental sponsorship and may be limited.

How to Check Your Access

  1. Go to https://o365.uthsc.edu.
  2. Sign in with your UTHSC email and password.
  3. If you can access the Microsoft 365 dashboard, your account is active.
  4. If you receive an access error, your eligibility may not include Microsoft 365 desktop apps.

Troubleshooting

  • Access denied: Your affiliation may not include Microsoft 365 licensing, or your NetID may be inactive.
  • Missing desktop installation option: Some roles only include access to online apps.
  • Recently hired or enrolled: Licensing may take up to 24 hours to activate.

Additional Notes

  • Access is automatically removed when employment or enrollment ends.
  • If your role changes, your license may update automatically within 24 hours.
