Overview
The UT Vault is a secure file transfer service that allows users to send large files quickly and securely easily. Files are transferred via encrypted HTTP and stored in an encrypted data store.
Send Files Through Vault
- Go to the Vault website and click the appropriate button to log in.
- Enter the email address of the recipient(s), the subject, and the body of the message. For multiple recipients, separate each address with a comma.
- Choose the file(s) you want to upload by clicking Upload. The maximum file size is 15GB. See other file size limitations and the file retention policy.
- Select the file(s) you want to share by checking the box next to them, then select Share File(s) – Email.
- Enter the email address of the person to whom you would like to send the file(s). For multiple recipients, hit Enter after each address.
- Choose OK to send the file(s). The recipient(s) will receive an encrypted email with the link to the file(s) and a random password required to download the file.
Access Files Sent through the Vault
When someone sends you a file via UT Vault, you receive an encrypted email with a link and a random password required to download the file.
UT Users
Use Outlook to view the encrypted email with no additional steps. They can simply copy the password, click on the link, enter the password in the Password field, and click Download.
Non-UT Users
Non-UT users must follow this One-time Passcode process to view a decrypted version of the email from UT Vault.
- Choose Read the Message.
- On the page that opens in your browser, choose Sign in with a One-time passcode.
- Retrieve the one-time passcode sent to your email from Microsoft Office 365 Message Encryption, enter it in the One-time passcode field, and choose Continue.
- Your decrypted email will be displayed in your browser.
- Copy the password, click on the link, and enter the password in the Password field, then click Download.
