Personally Owned Computing Devices (Employees)

Summary

This article explains the support limitations for personally owned devices used by UTHSC employees. It also provides links to resources for configuring personal devices for essential services such as VPN, Remote Desktop, Microsoft 365, Zoom, and WiFi.

Prerequisites

  • Personally owned laptop, desktop, tablet, or smartphone
  • UT NetID and password for accessing UTHSC services

Instructions

ITS does not provide technical support for personally owned devices used by employees. This includes installation, troubleshooting, or repair of hardware and software on personal equipment.

With the exception of Microsoft 365 applications, UTHSC‑licensed software cannot be installed on personally owned devices.

ITS provides self‑service resources to help employees configure their personal devices for secure access to UTHSC services. These resources include:

  • Full‑time students should refer to the Student Services Provided by ITS article for support options.
  • Microsoft 365 applications are the only UTHSC‑licensed software permitted on personal devices.
