How to Get Zoom on Your Computer

Summary

Learn how to install and use Zoom.

Body

The following steps will get you Zooming in no time!

It is very important that you download Zoom and log in with your UTHSC credentials rather than use a free account. Your meetings can last longer, have more attendees, and many of the features that don't work with a free Zoom account. You must log in with the SSO option (see step 7) or you will experience issues when using Zoom.

Setup

  1. Go to https://tennessee.zoom.us.
  2. Click the Create or Edit Account button.
    Zoom login screen
  3. Log in with your UTHSC NetID and Password (Duo authentication may be required).
  4. An account will be provisioned for you automatically.

Download the App

  1. Go to https://tennessee.zoom.us.
  2. Click the Download Zoom link at the bottom.
    Link to download Zoom
  3. Zoom automatically downloads the app for you. Locate the download file, double click, the follow the steps to install. If you experience any difficulty, contact the Service Desk at 901.448.2222.
  4. Once you have completed the installation process, you will see the sign in screen.
  5. Click on SSO. You may or may not be required to authenticate with Duo.
  6. The first time you log in using the Desktop application, you will be prompted to enter the SSO URL. You will only need to do this once. Enter https://tennessee.zoom.us and click continue.
  7. After entering the SSO URL and clicking continue, you are logged in. Once you have logged in, you will now see the main dialog box.
  8. You can now start a New Meeting, Schedule, or Join a meeting.

To view or make any changes to any of the meetings you have created, go to tennessee.zoom.us. Hover near the meeting and click Edit. Make any necessary changes, then click Save.

This is not something that any UTHSC faculty, staff or student needs to request. You already should have one. By logging in with your SSO into tennessee.zoom.us, you are accessing your UT Zoom Licensed (Pro) account. However, if you are not using Single Sign On or SSO to login, you will not see it.
