Body

Summary

This article explains how to connect to UTHSC WiFi, Eduroam, and Guest WiFi using your NetID and password. It also includes configuration details for Android devices and information about the Cisco AnyConnect agent required for faculty and staff laptops.

Prerequisites

  • UT NetID and NetID password
  • A laptop, smartphone, or tablet with WiFi capability
  • For faculty and staff laptops: ability to install the Cisco AnyConnect agent

Instructions

Connect to UTHSC WiFi

Most users will connect to the UTHSC WiFi network using their NetID and password.

  • Select UTHSC from your device’s list of available wireless networks.
  • Enter your NetID as the username.
  • Enter your NetID password.

Special Instructions for Android Devices

Android devices may require additional configuration depending on the model and operating system.

  • For the EAP method, select PEAP.
  • For Phase 2 Authentication, select MSCHAPV2.
  • For the CA certificate setting, select None, Do Not Validate, or Trust on First Connect.
  • If your device does not display a CA certificate field, continue with the remaining settings.
  • For Identity, enter your NetID when joining UTHSC WiFi.
  • Leave Anonymous Identity blank.
  • Enter your NetID password.

Faculty and Staff Laptop Requirements

When connecting a faculty or staff laptop to UTHSC WiFi for the first time, you will be directed to a webpage to install the Cisco AnyConnect agent. This agent profiles and postures your device to ensure it complies with university security policies.

Eduroam

Eduroam provides secure wireless access for visiting students, researchers, faculty, and staff from participating institutions.

  • Select eduroam from your device’s list of available wireless networks.
  • Enter your institutional email address and password.
  • Accept the SSL certificate when prompted.

If you cannot use the Eduroam configuration tool, enter your full UTHSC email address and password manually. Android users should follow the same configuration guidance listed in the Android section.

Guest WiFi

Visitors who do not have a NetID may request temporary access using the Guest WiFi Access service.

Submit a request using the Guest WiFi Access Service Request (replace with the correct service link if needed).

Troubleshooting

  • Verify that you are entering your NetID and NetID password correctly.
  • Restart your device if it does not prompt for credentials.
  • Ensure your device’s date and time settings are correct; certificate validation may fail otherwise.
  • Android devices may require clearing saved network settings before reconnecting.

Additional Notes

  • Eduroam provides roaming access at participating institutions worldwide.
  • Some devices may require additional security prompts depending on operating system version.
  • Faculty and staff laptops must comply with UTHSC security policies to connect successfully.
