Body
Summary
At the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, all projects begin with a formal request. This process ensures that proposed technology and operational initiatives meet institutional standards, align with strategic goals, and receive the appropriate level of review before work begins.
Prerequisites
- Access to TechConnect
- General understanding of the project’s purpose and expected outcomes
- Any documentation that may support the request (requirements, vendor details, scope notes)
Instructions
The project initiation process typically includes the following stages:
Technology Review
Before any hardware, software, or technical system is purchased, Information Technology Services (ITS) conducts a comprehensive Technology Review. This mandatory assessment ensures that all new technology aligns with cybersecurity and technical standards for the University of Tennessee, UT Health Science Center, and applicable government regulations.
Submission
Providing general information about the project request so ITS and stakeholders can understand the need.
Review
Allowing stakeholders to evaluate feasibility, impact, and alignment with institutional priorities.
Refinement
Adding attachments or documentation to clarify technical requirements, scope, or constraints.
Execution
Once approved, the project moves into active development or implementation.
