Canon ImageRunner: How to Print

Many departments on the UTHSC campus have an ImageRunner copy machine. Individuals will often use these devices as an office printer. You can typically submit a print job from your computer to a Canon ImageRunner, but you need to have the proper driver from Canon and know the device's host name.

1. Browse to Canon Support for | Canon U.S.A., Inc., and search for the proper Canon model names. The model name will be found on the front of the Canon device typically (e.g. Canon ImageRunner 4245i).
2. Click on the proper printer in the list that displays. On the page that appears, select "Software and Drivers".
3. Select your operating system. Typically, this will be Windows 11. And that's the option we selected in the screenshot below. You want to download, extract, and run the Generic_Plus_UFRII executable.
   
   
4. Windows instructions from this point will be shown first. If you have a Mac, please skip down to the Mac section.

Windows

1. On your Windows computer, type "printer" in the search.
2. Open Printers and Scanners.
3. Next to "Add a printer or scanner," select "Add Device."
4. You are unlikely to see your Canon device in the list that comes up. But if you do, click on it and let Windows automatically set it up. If you don't see the printer in the list, click "Add Manually."
5. Next, select "Add a printer using an IP address or hostname." The printer's hostname is often on the Canon device on a piece of paper or a sticker. However, if it isn't, you may need to contact the Service Desk to get help finding the hostname.
6. Once you have the network hostname of the Canon go to the next setup page and drop down the top menu, so it displays "TCP/IP Device". Then type the hostname in the next field. Make sure you add @uthsc.edu to the end of the hostname.
7. At this point, the computer should be able to find the Canon machine. It should also automatically set up the printer with the proper UFRI driver installed earlier.
8. You should now be ready to print. However, if something does not turn out as expected, please contact the Service Desk at 901.448.2222.

Mac

Note: Information is sourced from Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac.

1. The ITS network printer’s hostname, printing protocol, model number, and print software site are listed in the table below.
2. Add the printer to your list of available printers: Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
3. Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button on the right, click the IP button, then enter the printer information using the following table as a guide.
