Change Your Teams Background

Learn how to add a background to your Teams meeting whether you are just joining or already in the meeting.

You can blur your background in Teams or choose a Teams background template - even an official UTHSC campus image.

Change the Background Before the Meeting

1. Click your Teams calendar.
2. Double-click a meeting and select Join.
   
3. From the pre-join screen, make sure your video is turned on.
   
4. Click Background filters.
5. To blur your background, select the dropdown arrow next to Blur and choose Standard blur. You can also choose a desired background by double-clicking on it.
   
6. Click the Join button to join the meeting. 

Change the Background During the Meeting

1. At the top of the screen, click More.
2. Choose Video effects and settings.
3. Click the desired background and click the Apply button.

Add an Official UTHSC Background to Teams

You can also download an official UTHSC background for your Teams meeting.

1. Visit Zoom and Teams Backgrounds to download an image. (Windows Users: You must open your Downloads folder and double-click the .zip file you downloaded.) This puts a .png file in your Downloads folder.
2. Follow instructions 1- 4 under Change the Background Before the Meeting.
3. On the right side of the screen, click Add new.
   
4. Choose your downloads folder and double-click the official UTHSC image file.
5. If the image is reversed, click the gear icon next to Background filters. Click Mirror my video to turn it off.
   
6. Click the Join now button.
